Toll charges to go up again

Toll charges are set to go up again by up to 60 percent as Parliament is expected to rubber-stamp the revised contract agreements for several highway projects that have stalled across the country since 2010.

Toll rates at the Thiva tollgate on the Athens-Lamia highway will rise from 2.55 to 4.05 euros while at Tragana, on the same highway, the charge will go up from 2.45 to 3.95 euros.

Officials said there will be discounts for regular users and e-Pass owners.

Infrastructure Minister Michalis Chrysochoidis on Friday hailed the resumption of the road projects.

“By the end of 2015, the country will have the modern highways that we need and we deserve,” he said.
