Mountains of Peloponnese get first dusting of snow
The mountains of the Peloponnese got their first dusting of snow on Tuesday as temperatures nosedived across Greece.
Mount Mainalo, a popular skiing destination southwest of Tripoli, had about 20 centimeters of snow by Tuesday afternoon, while several remote villages were cut off due to ice on rural roads at higher altitudes.
Snowfall was also reported in the mountains of Laconia and Corinth, with authorities warning that cars need to be equipped with snow chains in order to navigate icy roads in mountainous parts of the region.
