Mitsotakis orders probe of civil servants with deposits abroad
Administrative Reform Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Wednesday ordered a probe into the finances of civil servants who appear to have transferred over 100,000 euros to banks abroad beginning in 2009.
Mitsotakis asked the ministry’s internal affairs department to give priority to those staffers who were already under investigation for suspected offenses.
The move is billed as measure aimed at tackling tax evasion.
“The days of everyone doing as they please, without reporting to anyone, are over and done with and everyone must realize this,” said the minister.
