Greek prosecutor calls 25 to trial over 270-mln-euro embezzlement
Appeals Court deputy prosecutor Stelios Kostarelos recommended to a council of judges on Friday that 25 people should stand trial in connection to allegations of money laundering, embezzlement and breach of faith on the part of two private electricity providers, Hellas Power and Energa.
The suspects are alleged to have embezzled a total of 270 million euros by collecting the property tax levied through electricity bills but not handing this money over to the state.
