Politicians’ source of wealth declarations go online

Greek Parliament’s website on Monday published the source of wealth declarations – “pothen esches” – submitted by 694 politicians justifying their incomes and expenditures in 2011.

The list of 694 declarations includes those of Prime Minister Antonis Samaras, former premiers, all active ministers and their deputies and alternates, extra-Parliamentary ministers, all active and former MPs and European Parliament deputies, as well as the financial officers, present and past, of the country’s political parties.

Deputy Parliament Speaker Giorgos Kalantzis said that all of the declarations have been inspected by a specially appointed committee of auditors for any possible discrepancies between stated assets and incomes and expenditures.

The declarations will stay online through January 16.
