Airplane carrying Samaras to Baku forced to return to Athens

An airplane carrying Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras to Azerbaijan was forced to return to Athens 15 minutes after takeoff on Monday due to a technical problem.

Samaras was expected in the Azeri capital Baku for the signing of the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) agreement.

The airplane landed safely at the military airport of Elefsina where it is undergoing an inspection.

No more details were made immediately available.

The Greek Prime Minister was expected to travel to Baku later in the day.
