President Karolos Papoulias makes appeal to Greek diaspora
Greek society has gone beyond its endurance limits, Greek President Karolos Papoulias said in a holiday message to Greeks living abroad on Friday.
In his statement, Papoulias noted that “recognizing the unprecedented sacrifices” of the Greek people was not enough and that what was demanded on behalf of the country’s partners and creditors was to “cover their share of the distance.”
He also noted that Greece had always counted on the aid and support of its diaspora.
“I am confident you will continue to contribute, like so many times in the past, during difficult periods in our history,” the statement read.
