Coast guard officers seize 88 kilos of hashish in Igoumenitsa

Coast guard officers at the port of Igoumenitsa, northeastern Greece, seized 88 kilos of hashish early on Saturday.

The drugs were hidden in airtight 1-kilogram packages in a secret compartment of a van that had German license plates.

Officers searched the vehicle after observing the driver behaving unusually. The hashish was discovered by a sniffer dog and the 35-year-old driver was arrested. Authorities did not make it clear whether he was Greek or a foreign national.
