Over 700 people flock to municipality’s free Christmas lunch

The City of Athens on Wednesday served more than 700 people at its free Christmas lunch, held at the indoor stadium of Rouf, west of the city center, which also operates as a shelter for homeless people during the coldest days of winter.

Dozens of municipal employees and volunteers helped serve the more than 700 crisis-hit people, including families with young children, who flocked to the facility for a warm meal that consisted of traditional Christmas dishes and desserts.

The municipal authority will be organizing another free lunch for New Year’s Day at the same facility.
