Nation wide tax raid expected to yield 273,000 euros in fines
Special financial crimes units conducted nearly 3,000 tax inspections across the country between December 16-22, officials announced on Saturday.
Authorities said they expected to raise up to 273,650 euros in fines, the overwhelming majority of which were issued for tax dodging or inaccurate data. Most violations were recorded in Athens (190), while tax evasion was most prominent in the Northern Aegean region, where authorities posted a 18.75 percent rate.
Inspectors carried out a total of 2,954 checks, of which 1,070 were on restaurants, bars and clubs.
