Police uncover rackets

A Russian woman forced to work as a prostitute while being kept prisoner in an apartment in Tavros, central Athens, with several other women managed to escape and notify police on Saturday, leading to the arrest of Eleftherios Tzitzis, 40. Police are seeking Tzitzis’s girlfriend, a Moldovan identified as «Ala;» a Russian couple known as Ismat and Jenia who allegedly supplied the women; Ilias Manousogeorgakis, 37, and Russian national Olga Zinova who allegedly guarded the women and helped run the business. In another development, police arrested Leonidas Lakkas and his wife Marina Antoniadi, owners of the Status bar in Metamorphosis, Athens, along with four of their employees who police say forced 12 of the 15 women working in the bar to perform sexual acts for customers. In Alexandroupolis, northern Greece, two undercover agents flushed out a prostitution racket at the Kentri bar operated by Maria Katirtzolgou, who is being sought. Four men employees were arrested, along with the nine women.
