Venizelos to meet Kerry on Friday

A meeting between Greek Foreign Minister Evangelos Venizelos and US Secretary of State John Kerry in Washington has been postponed to Friday, according to reports.

Reports said the meeting was rescheduled because of Kerry’s delayed return from Kuwait where he attended an international meeting on the Syria crisis.

The two men are expected to discuss developments related to Greece’s presidency of the European Union, which started on January 1st, as well as American concerns over the escape of convicted November 17 terrorist Christodoulos Xeros.

Ahead of the Kerry meeting, Venizelos, who is also Greece’s deputy prime minister, will meet with US Treasury secretary Jack Lew.

The foreign minister’s agenda also includes meetings with Robert Menendez, head of the US Senate Committee on Foreign Relations and Ed Royce, chairman of the US House Committee on Foreign Affairs.

He is also scheduled to meet with members of US think tanks as well as representatives of Greek diaspora organizations.
