Funeral of actor killed in motorcycle crash to be held Wednesday
The funeral of 42-year-old actor Giorgos Katinas, who died after crashing his motorcycle on Sunday in Athens, is due to be held on Wednesday in the suburb of Nea Filadelfia, north of the city center.
Katinas was best known for his roles in several popular television series, including “Vera sto dexi” (Wedding ring on the right) and “Efta thanasimes petheres” (Seven deadly mothers-in-law). He was also an active proponent of actors’ rights and a leading member of the national guild for thespians.
Details of the accident in which he died were not made public, though local media suggested that he had not been wearing a crash helmet at the time of the crash.
His funeral is to take place at 4 p.m.
