About 500 miners from Stratoniki in Halkidiki took to the streets of Athens yesterday and then staged a sit-in at the entrance of the Finance Ministry, demanding that their mine resume operations. Deputy Finance Minister Christos Pachtas assured them that the government would soon announce the mine’s new ownership. ‘No one will be fired,’ he said.
