PM Costas Simitis yesterday inaugurated the State Audit Council building (seen in a photo behind him), the first that the high court – which monitors public finances – has had since its founding 170 years ago. ‘This building sends a message,’ Simitis said. ‘The modernization of the country is going ahead in a way that supports transparency in every sphere of public life.’ The building cost 20 million euros.
