Two detained while trying to sell baby in western Greece
A Greek man and an Albanian woman faced a prosecutor in Patra on Tuesday following their arrest on Monday in the act of trying to sell a 4-month-old Romanian infant to two undercover police officers posing as a childless couple.
The suspects were arrested during a meeting in a supermarket parking lot in the western port during which they allegedly demanded 10,000 euros in exchange for the infant.
The baby, whose 21-year-old mother is said to have been identified, was transferred to the university hospital in nearby Rio for health checks.
