SYRIZA calls for Parliament to act over reports that ND MPs sent 3.5 mln abroad
SYRIZA called on Monday for a parliamentary committee to meet in the wake of reports that three New Democracy MPs had transferred 3.5 million euros abroad between 2009 and 2012.
Leftist MP Dimitris Papadimoulis wrote to Parliament to ask for the matter to be investigated by the House committee that reviews lawmakers’ derivation of wealth (pothen esches) declarations.
“The obvious seriousness of the issue demands that the committee is convened immediately,” said the SYRIZA lawmaker.
Media reports over the weekend suggested that tax authorities had discovered the transfers during checks on Greeks who moved money abroad. The three lawmakers were not named.
