New Democracy MP Kikilias denies he transferred large sums abroad
New Democracy MP Vassilis Kikilias has denied reports that he is one of three conservative MPs alleged to have transferred a total of more than 3 million euros abroad.
Kikillias released a statement on Monday in which he insisted that the income he earned before entering politics, when he was a basketball player and a doctor, had been fully taxed and was deposited in Greece.
He added that the money has been declared on his derivation of wealth (pothen esches) form, which all lawmakers have to submit.
“I will not allow anyone to question my honor and honest,” said Kikilias.
SYRIZA has called for a parliamentary committee to meet to investigate the reports that authorities have found that three New Democracy deputies transferred more than 1 million euros each to foreign accounts between 2009 and 2012.
