Panepistimiou Street revamp gets the final green light
The 78.5-million-euro revamp of the central Athenian thoroughfares of Panepistimiou and Patission streets on Wednesday got the green light from the Environment Ministry, which is funding the project jointly with the Attica Regional Authority.
The project foresees the transformation of Panepistimiou into a promenade with the tram running from its current terminus at Syntagma Square to Egyptou Square at the beginning of Patission.
Omonia and Korai squares, as well as the courtyard of the National Archaeological Museum, among others, will also be getting facelifts.
