Police probe provenance of case of 1,200 bullets in Karea

Police forensics experts were on Thursday examining a case of 1,200 bullets that was discovered on Wednesday by residents in forestland close to a military base in Karea, east of Athens.

The 7.62 millimeter bullets are ammunition for G3 rifles, according to police sources, who are seeking to determine whether the bullets are abandoned military supplies or part of the arsenal of one of several guerrilla organizations currently being investigated.
