Pensioner, 78, arrested after failed robbery in Thessaloniki

A 78-year-old man has been arrested in Thessaloniki on suspicion of trying to rob a liquor store in the northern Greek city.

The Georgian man is alleged to have threatened the shop employee with a knife on Monday but ran off after he failed to hand over any cash from the till.

The suspect was later picked up by members of the police’s DIAS motorcycle squad.
