File on suit against PASOK chief goes to Parliament

Justice Minister Haralambos Athanasiou on Wednesday referred to Parliament the case file that has been put together after Deputy Prime Minister Evangelos Venizelos was accused of spying and betraying state secrets.

A private citizen, Dimitris Antoniou, filed a suit against Venizelos after the latter revealed last year that he had digital copies of defense plans at his home following his stint as defense minister.

Venizelos made the comments to defend the fact that he had a memory stick with a copy of the Lagarde list of depositors months after leaving the Finance Ministry.

Parliament will now have to decide whether Venizelos has any case to answer.

The foreign minister is due to travel to Rome on Thursday to attend a ministerial conference on Libya.
