This memorial stands among the graves of 16 British servicemen killed in an accident in 1929, at Nea Ionia near Volos, central Greece. Local officials are demanding 40,000 euros ($45,200) to rebury the remains. Some 18,000 servicemen and women are buried or commemorated at 31 Commonwealth cemeteries around Greece.
