Elderly robbery victim dies in Larissa hospital from injuries

A 76-year-old man who was being treated at the University Hospital of Larissa in central Greece for injuries sustained during a violent robbery of his home, died on Sunday.

The man and his wife, aged 61, had been tied up, gagged and viciously beaten by unknown assailants in their home in the village of New Lefki on the outskirts of Larissa, on Friday night.

They were both hospitalized with serious injuries, with the 61-year-old woman reportedly still in critical condition.

Police have ramped up their efforts to apprehend the perpetrators, who are now facing murder charges.
