Pensioners protest in central Athens
About 2000 pensioners were staging a protest against the government’s austerity measures on Thursday.
The elderly have faced several pension reductions since 2010 and demonstrators are protesting changes at the public health sector and a mobility scheme for thousands of doctors and nurses employed by the National Organization for Healthcare Provision (EOPYY).
Protesting pensioners, who gathered earlier Thursday at the central Athens Kotzia Square, were expected to march to the Ministry of Health.
