For last-minute travelers…

Plenty of accommodation is expected to be on offer during this holiday season in both hotels and rented rooms, and at a wide range of prices. Below is a list of tips for last-minute travelers: – Consult travel guides on the market and negotiate the listed prices by phone. – If you are setting out for the islands without booking a room, avoid the touts who chase customers as soon at the ferry arrives. – Ask for the municipal tourist office when you arrive. – In large hotels, which have a wide profit margin, prices are often better than in smaller establishments. For instance, a first-class hotel on Corfu costs the same (50 euros a day) as a rented room above a family taverna on the seafront between Parga and Preveza. – If you want to stay in rented rooms, bungalows or villas, check the website www.seedde.gr on the Internet. The site belongs to the Business Federation of Rented Rooms and Apartments of Greece (SEEDDE), which caters to all budgets. It offers all kinds of information about local history, entertainment, beaches, walks for nature lovers, and transportation.
