Nightclub attack by ex-stunt man foiled by police

A crime boss who once doubled for Chuck Norris and is serving a prison sentence in Corfu is believed to have been plotting to blow up a nightclub in Kalamata along with eight other people, police revealed on Tuesday.

The 52-year-old underworld figure, who is alleged to have ordered the murder of a 35-year-old man and his 2-year-old son in 2011, was recorded speaking to other suspects about the bombing. Police said the transcripts show he wanted the establishment bombed because the owner had given evidence against him in a previous case.

Police started investigating the inmate after receiving a tip-off. Some 20 officers from the force’s unit that specializes in investigating blackmails were involved in the operation.

The 52-year-old worked as a stunt double in the 1980s and was known as “Bill the Canadian.”
