Exarchia drug dealers snatched by anarchists

A text uploaded on the Indymedia website on Wednesday appeared to confirm police suspicions that a mysterious incident in the central Athens neighborhood of Exarchia on Saturday night, when up to 20 armed men wearing hoods or helmets abducted two people, was a case of local anarchists removing drug dealers from the area.

The statement referred to a “political intervention” at Exarchia Square that intended to send a “clear message.” Police believe that a well-known anarchist from the neighborhood, who has been at war with drug dealers, was behind the events. It is not clear what happened to the two people who were seen being dragged from the square.
