Foretaste in August with the first test events
This August, viewers will get a foretaste of what is in store with broadcasts of the first test events in rowing, archery, cycling, canoeing, kayaking, equestrian events, beach volleyball and the second one in sailing. The warmup will begin in September with broadcasts of pre-Olympic programs aimed at familiarizing viewers with the spirit of the Games. A daily television program will present news of preparations of the Games, the activities of ATHOC 2004 and the transformation of Athens in the runup to the Games. «The Road to Athens,» co-produced by ERT and Octagon, tells the history of the Games, bringing to life their great moments. A group of journalists visits various parts of the world in order to spread the Olympic spirit in an ambitious production called «Olympic Trophy.» «The Road to Glory» tells the story of five sports (swimming, boxing, gymnastics and equestrian events), while «Olympic Spirit» depicts the progress of athletes who value participation as highly as winning. Some of the finest moments of African-American athletes are shown in «Struggle for Glory,» while «Dream Teams» of 1992 and 1996 refers to some of the biggest names in basketball. «Summer Reflections» focuses on the Summer Olympics, and «Olympic Century» comprises three programs on the history of the modern Olympic Games since 1896.
