Tsochatzopoulos found guilty over source of wealth declaration

An Athens court on Wednesday handed former defense minister Akis Tsochatzopoulos a five-year and six month suspended sentence for submitting an inaccurate source of wealth “pothen esches” declaration, with regard to a property on Dionysiou Areopagitou Street in the exclusive area of Makriyianni, in central Athens. The court also imposed a 210,000 euro fine on the former Socialist minister.

In October last year Tsochatzopoulos was found guilty of laundering millions of euros in kickbacks from defense deals and was given a 20-year jail sentence.
