Cargo ships collide off Lesvos; no injuries, damage reported
Two foreign-flagged cargo vessels collided off the coast of the eastern Aegean island of Lesvos on Saturday.
There were no reports of injuries or damage.
Details were not made available regarding the ships’ identities or the size of their crews after they collided 19 nautical miles off the island’s northwestern coast, though the coast guard said that neither of the captains requested assistance.
The captains are also said to have assured that the accident did not result in any crew injuries or any pollutants leaking into the sea.
