Former soccer club president gets 10 years behind bars

Businessman Makis Psomiadis, a former nightclub owner and newspaper publisher, was sentenced to 10 years behind bars on Tuesday after a Greek court found him guilty for embezzling 21 million euros from AEK during his tenure as the soccer club’s president between 2001 and 2003.

Psomiadis has denied the charges.

In December last year the businessman was sentenced to four-and-a-half years in prison over charges for attempted blackmail and robbery.
