Lawyer charged with riling inmates in fax sent to Corfu prison
An Athens-based lawyer was charged on Thursday with inciting others to commit a crime after he sent a fax to inmates at Corfu Prison calling on them to resist government plans to create more maximum-security jails.
Prosecutor Calliope Dagianta heard the lawyer’s claim that he had been calling on inmates to sign a petition before issuing the misdemeanor charge.
The case has been referred to a magistrate, who is due to call the lawyer to give evidence.
