Fewer days off for students, teachers

Pupils will lose two days off school and will have to return to classes after the summer vacations a few days earlier than usual, it was announced Tuesday.

The Education Ministry agreed that classes will resume on September 6, with teachers having to return to school on September 1. High school classes will end on May 31, while primary and nursery schools will wind up their work on June 15. Teachers will not be able to go on holiday until after June 30, with the last 10 days of the academic year being dedicated to educational seminars.

The ministry has also decided that children will not have the day off on January 7 to mark Epiphany and on January 30 for the day of the Three Hierarchs.
