Kasidiaris’s claims of secret meetings false, says chief of Greek judges
The head of the National Union of Judges and Prosecutors, Vassiliki Thanou-Christofilou, on Thursday rebuked claims by Golden Dawn spokesman Ilias Kasidiaris that Justice Minister Haralambos Athanasiou and judges aim to turn the trial of MPs of the ultra-right party into “a television spectacle.”
In a statement, Thanou-Christofilou dismissed the statements as “absolutely inaccurate and lacking in seriousness.”
Kasidiaris, who is on conditional release pending trial for membership of a criminal organization, also referred to “secret meetings” between Prime Minister Antonis Samaras and judges during his speech in Parliament ahead of a vote lifting the immunity of his colleagues on Tuesday.
