Extra 1,500 firefighters to be hired for summer season in Greece

The general secretary of the Public Order and Citizens Protection Ministry, Patroklos Georgiadis, on Thursday announced that an additional 1,500 temporary firefighters are being hired to boost the ranks of the service, which currently employs around 8,000, as the fire season begins.

Nearly 4.2 million euros from the state budget has been earmarked for firefighting this year.
