WWII machine gun, bullets found in abandoned Athens building

A machine gun thought to date to World War II was found in an abandoned building in central Athens on Wednesday.

Police said the gun was discovered in a building at the junction of Michalakopoulou and Pontos streets.

The gun is rusty but still works, officers said.

A box of bullets was found next to it.

The gun was taken to a police forensics laboratory for tests.
