Police ask for public’s help in search for suspect in 2012 nightclub killing

Police on Tuesday published the photograph of a 51-year-old Armenian national who is wanted in connection with the shooting of man, also 51, at a nightclub in the Piraeus suburb of Nikaia in 2012.

After an investigation that lasted 19 months, police on Tuesday said their prime suspect is the man in the photograph and they are seeking the public’s help in locating him. He has been identified as Honhannes Gemjyan, born on October 20, 1963, in Armenia.

Previously arrested in connection with other crimes such as robberies and drug dealing, Gemjyan is believed to have shot several times the 51-year-old victim after getting into an argument over a parking spot at the Elxi nightclub on the corner of Beloyianni and Karaiskaki streets in the early hours of October 21, 2012.

Anyone who has any knowledge regarding the events leading up to the crime or the suspect’s whereabouts has been asked to come forward by calling 210.641.1111 and 210.647.6232.
