Former minister Andreas Loverdos ready to return to PASOK fold
Andreas Loverdos, a former minister and Socialist heavyweight, on Tuesday said he intends to return to the fold of PASOK after leaving the party to form his own movement, RIKKSY, in December 2012, despite statements last year flatly rejecting the idea.
Speaking to To Vima daily, Loverdos also said that Christos Aidonis, another former PASOK MP, is also set to return to the party, which garnered 8 percent in Sunday’s vote for local government and European Parliament with it’s center-left coalition Elia.
Should Loverdos and Aidonis return to PASOK, it would increase the coalition government’s wafer-thin majority of 152 MPs in the 300-seat House and bring PASOK’s share to 29 deputies.
Loverdos further suggested that discussions are under way for the possible return to the Socialists of Markos Bolaris and Mimis Androulakis, according to To Vima.
