GD supporters gather outside Parl’t as chief and two more MPs expected to appear ahead of vote

A group of about 200 Golden Dawn supporters rallied outside Parliament on Wednesday morning ahead of the scheduled transfer of the neofascist party leader Nikos Michaloliakos and another two Golden Dawn lawmakers, Christos Pappas and Yiannis Lagos, from pretrial custody to address the House in view of a vote to lift their immunity for a number of charges.

The three were arrested last September and are being held on charges of being members of a criminal organization. Wednesday’s parliamentary vote related to additional charges, including illegal gun ownership for Michaloliakos and Lagos and developing an illegal archive of Nazi memorabilia for Pappas.

On Tuesday five Golden Dawn deputies were granted additional time to prepare testimonies as part of the ongoing criminal probe into the party’s activities.
