Golden Dawn MP faces magistrate as party sues for abuse of power

Another Golden Dawn legislator faced the two investigating magistrates who are leading a criminal investigation into the ultra-right party on Friday as GD sued the judicial officials for abuse of power.

Dimitris Koukoutsis appeared before Ioanna Klapa and Maria Dimitropoulou on Friday to defend himself on charges of running a criminal organization.

Meanwhile, according to sources, Golden Dawn brought a legal suit against the two magistrates, alleging that they tried to press a former GD MP, Stathis Boukouras, to reveal incriminating evidence against current party legislators.

Earlier this week, Parliament voted overwhelmingly to broaden the crime charges faced by party leader Nikos Michaloliakos, the latter’s second-in-command Christos Pappas and a third MP Yiannis Lagos. Michaloliakos and Lagos were charged with illegal weapons charges and Pappas with creating an illegal archive. They are all in pre-trial custody charged with running a criminal organization.
