Coast guard rescues 26 irregular migrants off Samos

Twenty-six irregular migrants were rescued by coast guard officers off the coast of Samos in the eastern Aegean on Wednesday after the inflatable boat they were traveling in began taking on water.

The craft, which is believed to have departed from nearby Turkey, sank after its 26 passengers were taken in by the coast guard.

The nationalities of the passengers were not reported.
