Monday PM Costas Simitis to take part in discussion on «Socialism Today» at International Union of Socialist Youth (IUSY) gathering at the coastal resort of Kammena Vourla in central Greece. Among other participants are former Spanish PM Felipe Gonzales and Socialist International general secretary Luis Ayala. – Interior Minister Costas Skandalidis to meet with Left Coalition President Nikos Constantopoulos to discuss government’s proposals for a new electoral law. – Justice Minister Philippos Petsalnikos visits Florina. – Transport Minister Christos Verelis to meet with representatives of Federation of Civil Aviation Unions (OSPA) to discuss legislation regarding New Olympic Airways. – Alternate Foreign Minister Tassos Yiannitsis visits Iraklion, Crete, to meet with local authorities and speak at a conference on «The Greek EU Presidency: The Day After.» – Deputy Development Minister Kimon Koulouris to meet with representatives of street markets’ farmers and vendors. – Hellenic Railways Organization (OSE) line between Athens and Corinth to be interrupted at Megara because of works on the line. Buses will be provided between Megara and Corinth, up to and including Wednesday. Tuesday President Costis Stephanopoulos visits Messinia prefecture to attend unveiling of the statue of Grigorios Dikaios Papaflessas, archimandrite and War of Independence fighter. – PM Simitis to meet with Press Minister Christos Protopappas, Deputy Press Minister Telemachos Hytiris and PASOK General Secretary Michalis Chrysochoidis to discuss communication policy. – Culture Minister Evangelos Venizelos to chair a meeting on the Olympic test events of August 2003. – Disadvantaged young people (aged 15-25) from Britain, Romania, Finland, Germany and Greece to arrive at summer camp on Samothrace organized by the Center for the Support of Children and Family, which was established by Social and Educational Action, a non-governmental organization. Wednesday PM Simitis to meet with representatives of Local Government Union (KEDKE) at Maximos Mansion. He will also meet with the Association of the Prefectural Administration of Greece (ENAE) to discuss prefectures’ financial difficulties. – New Democracy party leader Costas Karamanlis to meet with local organizations to discuss problems of the Attica region, at the Mary Aroni Theater, Karaiskaki Square, Alimos, at 7 p.m. – PASOK General Secretary Michalis Chrysochoidis visits Iraklion, Crete. – Labor Minister Dimitris Reppas chairs inaugural meeting of the National Employment Committee at Zappeion Hall, which will focus on the National Employment Action Plan (ESDA). – Culture Minister Evangelos Venizelos leads press visit to the Olympic Riding Center at Markopoulo. Thursday PM Simitis chairs a Cabinet meeting on local government issues. Friday European Forum «Mountainous August» is held at the Municipality of Pramanta, Ioannina. The conference is under the aegis of European Parliament President Pat Cox. A televised debate on the «Future of Regional Policy in the Europe of the 21st Century» will include ministers, euro MPs and members of the Commission. See www.augustnet.net. To Sunday.
