Many Greeks believe they are not adequately trained for employment, survey shows

Forty-three percent of Greeks believe their education does not prepare them adequately for employment, according to a Eurobarometer survey conducted recently.

The study pointed to about one quarter of Europeans feeling that their training did not provide the skills necessary for work. Greece scored the highest marks in the survey, trailed by Spain (38 percent) and Italy (35 percent).

The gap between northern and southern European countries was reflected in the survey as 87 percent of Swedes, 86 percent of Danes and 85 percent of Germans felt they were adequately trained.

The research highlighted EU citizens’ attitudes toward the education that they have received and the priorities for education and training in their country, while also looking at experiences of working in other countries and how qualifications are recognized in different EU states.
