A large fire that broke out near Mytilene Airport on Lesvos Wednesday was brought under partial control on Thursday.

The blaze on the northeastern Aegean island was reportedly caused by a spark from farming machinery.

Meanwhile, a fire that broke out in Sithonia, Halkidiki, on Sunday, was also under partial control on Thursday, firefighters said, adding that it is believed the blaze destroyed some 55 hectares of forestland.
