Ryanair plane makes emergency landing in Athens

A Ryanair flight that took off from Thessaloniki Airport en route to Paphos, Cyprus, made an emergency landing at Athens International Airport late on Monday, after a passenger suffered a panic attack about 20 minutes into the flight, AMNA new agency reported.

According to witness reports the unnamed man stood outside the cockpit demanding access, claiming he was the plane’s mechanic.

Crew members and passengers subsequently immobilized the passenger, while the plane changed route and landed in Athens.

The passengers were expected to fly to Cyprus on Tuesday.
