Golden Dawn chief’s wife and MP put under house arrest

Golden Dawn MP Eleni Zaroulia, the wife of detained party leader Nikos Michaloliakos, was put under house arrest on Wednesday following a disagreement between the two magistrates leading an investigation into GD and a prosecutor overseeing the probe about her fate pending trial on charges of running a criminal organization.

Zaroulia submitted a written deposition denying all charges. The magistrates, Ioanna Klapa and Maria Dimitropoulou, proposed that she be kept under house arrest until the trial, while prosecutor Isidoros Dogiakos, called for her to be remanded in custody.

The Council of Appeals Court Judges is to resolve the dispute. Another GD MP, Constantinos Barbaroussis, was freed on a 20,000-euro bail.
