Quake measuring 4.4 Richter hits Halkida, rattles Attica

A moderate earthquake measuring 4.4 on the Richter scale struck the area of Halkida, north of Athens, shortly before 1 p.m. on Friday, and was felt in central Athens and across Attica.

The epicenter of the quake was located about 13 kilometers east of Halkida and at a depth of 22 kilometers, according to the Athens Geodynamic Institute.

There were no reports of injuries or damage.
