Officer caught dealing drugs at Attica precinct

A 42-year-old police officer is facing felony charges and dismissal after allegedly being caught dealing drugs at a police precinct in Attica.

The officer was initially arrested last Friday during a routine check by officers of the motorcycle riding Zeta squad, who found him to be in possession of a small amount of heroin and narcotics in pill form.

The case was then turned over to the internal affairs department, which allegedly found that the suspect had been dealing drugs to prisoners being held at the precinct. He is said to have been working with two accomplices, a 31-year-old Moroccan and a 20-year-old Nigerian, both inmates at the same precinct. Their racket is believed to have started in May.

The three suspects allegedly distributed the drugs in packets of cigarettes and bundles of bed linen destined for the prisoners, among other means.

The officer has been suspended from duty as the investigation continues.
