Roma man shot dead in Thessaloniki had long criminal record, says police

A 60-year-old man shot dead by two assailants in a Roma settlement in Dendropotamo, near Thessalonikion Thursday had a long criminal record, police revealed.

The Roma man was shot by two Georgians in his home shortly before 10 a.m.

Neighbors then opened fire on the two gunmen, injuring them.

They were treated for their minor injuries at Thessaloniki’s Ippocrateio Hospital, where they are under armed guard.

Police believe that the 60-year-old may have been the victim of an armed robbery as he kept a large amount of gold in his home.
